Why Ranbir Kapoor Hugged Katrina Kaif

Ranbir Kapoor plays an NRI forced to return home to take over the family business (in this case, politics). Sounds familiar? Abhishek Bachchan played a similar role in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar.

Ranbir won’t play the reluctant politician in the usual khadi kurta-pyjama dress code. “Ranbir will be very trendily dressed.

Apparently the character is a mix of Rajiv Ganghi and Michael Corloene from Francis Ford Coppola’s The godfather.

Says Prakash affectionately, “He even offered to leave whatever he was doing and join us in Bhopal although his shooting starts next month. I remember one day Ajay, Nana, Arjun, Manoj were working together and missing Ranbir.

So in the evening we got together in my hotel room and called him. Ranbir spoke to each of us individually.

He wanted to leave everything in Mumbai and join us Bhopal.”

Prakash starts workshops with Ranbir after the Lok Sabha elections.

Says Prakash, “Ranbir is so excited about his look, dialogues. He needs to play a character who defines democracy in today’s world. I wouldn’t describe it as a multi-starrer. It’s a multi-actor film.

Katrina Kaif is such a revelation. She was so nervous giving a speech in front of 10,000 people. After she gave her speech I hugged her on stage and shouted out to the junta, ‘Bhopal ! ka ticket de de kya?’

It Was Numb & Clueless To Meet Akon - Katrina Kaif

We all thought it was Shilpa Shetty who was going to dance with Akon at the IPL finals. Shilpa had even put it on her blog. And later had to change the information.

Shilpa says she didn’t get time to rehearse for her performance with Akon. But neither did Katrina who finally went on stage with Akon totally unprepared.

Yes, finally it was the feisty and in-demand Katrina Kaif who joined the R & B legend for the Finals. What was supposed to be a quick entry and exit with Akon on stage to blow kisses at the crowds turned out to be a good ten minutes of hip and hop dancing with one of Katrina’s favourite pop artistes.

Katrina Kaif danced with the American R & B wizard Akon on Sunday night in South Africa…totally unrehearsed. And she isn’t in a hurry to forget the experience.

“It wasn’t supposed to happen!” the actress was still in a daze the morning after the event. “I mean I was supposed to dance to Jai ho with Shi! amak Davar. That’s it. I was just supposed to pop up on the stage for the finale to say hello to the crowds. ”

Minutes before it was supposed to happen Katrina was told she had to dance with Akon on stage.

“I was like…. zapped! Not only because I was totally not prepared for it. But also because I’m the biggest Akon fan. Just sharing the stage with him would’ve been a dream come true.

And there I was dancing with him for a good ten minutes. It was an exh! ilarating experience, specially since I was representing my co! untry. Y a, it felt good. ”

And to think she didn’t even know Akon minutes before she went on stage with him. “We were introduced seconds before we went on stage together. As we ran to the stage he asked me what we’ll do for the audience. I was numb…. and clueless. For ten minutes we just improvised and did what we wanted to. Finally it turned out right. ”

Katrina is surprised to know Shilpa was supposed to share stage space with Akon. “I’ve no idea of this. As far as I kn! ow the programme was decided and announced in Bombay Times two weeks before the event. And no one else was on with Akon. Like I said, even I was not supposed to dance with him. ”

Earlier during the evening Katrina danced to A R Rahman’s anthem Jai ho. “That, I was fully prepared to do. And thanks to Shiamak Davar I did it well.

But being on stage with Akon was completely not part of the plan. I guess this is known as wish-fulfilment. I’ve recently started enjoying myself on stage. And I think on Sunday evening that enjoyment connected with the audience. ”

I Want To Look Sexy - Priyanka Kothari

Devansh Patel meets Nitin, RGV's new find and Priyanka, RGV's old obsession, for a scary and funny rendezvous on their film Agyaat, their first scary experience, their scary films and the ever so scary Ram Gopal Varma.

Southern sensation - RGV or Nitin?
Nitin: I think you should ask this to him. But I guess he likes South Indian actors. I think he likes actors who suit the roles written by his writers or him. That's how I was born in Bollywood. RGV is my father you can say.

RGV uses everyone?
Nitin: RGV uses everyone or not, I don't know. This is my firs! t film with him. So after the film releases and it's over, I'll let you know. If he likes an actor very much, he'll cast him in three to four of his movies and write a special part for him. That's what I know.

Priyanka: RGV isn't a business man who will use you for his benefit or others. He is a professional. RGV squeezes your performance out and uses it. So in that context, I can say that he uses his actors for the better.

First scary experience...
Nitin: When I was in my ninth standard, I was going out to play cricket at around six in the morning. I was going on my cycle and put my bat on the carrier of the cycle. Suddenly I could feel someone touching me.

When I looked back, I saw my bat wasn't on the carrier. It was down. I screamed like a mad man. I still don't know how did the bat came down from the carrier or was someone really behind me.

Priyanka: Whenever I look myself in the mirror, I get scared (laughs). Seriously, just a couple of days back, I dreamt that someone called Agyaat was trying to kill me.

It was scary because all day you are promoting the film, all day you see your promos on the television, all day you talk about your film. Isn't that a scary thing to do? And then when you go to sleep in the night, it comes to haunt you.

Bollywood to Tollywood
Nitin: There is a lot of difference when you work in the South and in Bollywood. Here everything is planned. Out there, you get scripts in the morning and you have to read and act them out. Bollywood is world over but our films down South will always remain down South. The! y'll never come up.

Priyanka: Whether it's a Bollywood camera or a Tollywood camera, I have to emote in front of the lens. I will have to look sexy in front of both the cameras. Bollywood is very professional and so is the filmmaking down South.

I see no big difference there. It's the language which is the biggest barrier. South Indian films are more regional than worldwide.

Scary films
Nitin: Evil Dead part one and two; Phoonk and Agyaat are the scariest films I've seen. You look into Varma sir's eyes for five minutes and you'll get scared (laughs)

Priyanka: My favourite scary films are the Blair Witch Project, Bhoot, Phoonk and the Bride of Chucky.

Going wild with Priyanka
Nitin: Ramu Sir briefed me on all the songs and the way he wanted to shoot them. The songs were too intense and the emotions were even more. Priyanka came across as any other co-star except that she is too hot to handle (laughs). I taught Priyanka how to diet while we were shooting for the songs of Agyaat. She kept on eating oranges and I kept on eating chicken and egg whites so that we could go wild.

Ramu the choreographer
Nitin: Ramu sir is everything, from a spot boy to a director. That is Ram Gopal Varma. He will do anything for his film. He won't choreograph the steps for us but will improvise if I am not holding Priyanka in the right position or I am not giving the intense look, etc.

Priyanka: Imagine Ram Gopal Varma dancing (laughs). He will not dance and show you your steps but will create the moments for his actors according to their body language.
Getting attracted
Nitin: I've only got attracted to my first co-star Sadah in the South. It was the first time I had to kiss her, it was the first time I had to hold her and from the second film onwards the attraction fizzed off. I am not married so I have a lot of time to get attracted to somebody.

Priyanka: I got attracted to all my heroes. I am attracted towards Nitin too. I am saying this in front of him because feelings are feelings. One time hug or a one time kiss, it's the feelings that counts.

Scary Indian Press
Nitin: There was a scary thing that got published in the papers down South. I was shooting my third last film when an article appeared stating that I got married to my co-star Bhavna and we were off on our honeymoon to Malaysia. Such news can only get published in South.

Priyanka: I remember just before the release of my film James, I said, "I don't have any expectations from the film." After the film released, an article appeared which read: 'Priyanka didn't expect anything because she knew James will not work'. RGV and Priyanka Kothari stories too were famous and scary for quite some time.

Scary RGV
Nitin: He is cool. I can sit like a friend next to him and talk. He is that good to talk too. He is scary because he only talks about films (laughs). My favourite RGV films are Shiva, Sarkar and Agyaat.

Priyanka: Whenever I speak to him, it's only about films. He is obsessed with them. That is not scary RGV but a seduced RGV. A person who is seduced by films. My favourite RGV films are Rangeela, Satya, Sarkar and Agyaat.

Scary! box office
Nitin: The first day will decide the fate of Agyaat. I think Kaminey's audience will be different and Agyaat's will be very different. Kaminey is like a fifty crore film and ours is just a five crore film. So even if Agyaat runs for two weeks, it's a super hit.

Priyanka: Every movie has its own fate. It's nothing to do with Kaminey releasing one week after Agyaat also. When Hangover got released, I saw no promo of it, no posters, nothing. Still it became a bigger hit than Kambakkht Ishq. People decide what they want to go and watch and not the box office.

Nitin: Super Hit

Priyanka: Knowing something.

Aishwarya Wants To Forget Salman & Vivek

Aishwarya Rai is tired of the past that Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi keep digging up. The actress, who is married now, wants to forget her relationships with them, move on and stay happy with her husband, Abhishek Bachchan. But the two gentlemen don’t seem to want to let go so easily.

In a talk show recently, Vivek said that the press conference he had held against Salman Khan was to impress Aishwarya, who Vivek was then dating.

Also, Salman has said a lot of bad things about her in recent interviews and press meets. While Aishwarya hasn’t made any remarks over this, a close friend of the Bachchan family has called this behavior of the two men rather ungentlemanl! y.

The friend also adds that when Vivek held the conference, Aishwarya didn’t know anything about it and was horrified. He should take responsibility of his actions and not keep blaming her for everything. The friend feels that the two should just leave her alone, now that she has married and settled.

And Salman’s reason for constantly talking about her is that the media keeps asking him about her. Aishwarya’s friend retorted angrily saying that while the media does ask questions, it is up to him to choose whether to answer them or not.

Aishwarya is currently in Goa, shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish and also for Mani Ratnam’s Raavana. She was also, apparently, very disturbed over this while on the sets of Guzaarish and was in tears.

Patch Up With Sanjay & Akshay?

Akshay Kumar is tired of replying to queries about his so-called rivalry with "Blue" co-star Sanjay Dutt. Setting the record straight, he says this is a figment of someone's imagination and they don't have any problems whatsoever with each other.

"Please, in this forum, let me state this for perhaps the last time ever - 'There are no problems between Sanjay Dutt and me, " Akshay told.

Since the shooting of "Blue" commenced around a year ago, there was talk of tension between the two stars.

"Yeh sab bekaar ki baatein hain (all this is ridiculous talk). People can imagine something and start writing about anything that comes to their mind. We live in ! times when such unnecessary gossip makes headlines.

"In fact, I went for 'Mata Ki Chowki' (prayer function) at his place. Would I have done that had there been any problems between us?" asked the actor who is currently shooting for "Houseful".

Akshay and Sanjay haven't worked in a film together for a long time. Their last release was director Raj N. Sippy's "Amaanat", which had incidentally released Oct 14 in 1994. Now, after exactly 15 years, the two actors are seen again in "Blue".

What took them so much time to patch up?

"What patch up?" asked Akshay in an exasperated tone. "Rani Mukerji has been around for 13 years. Her first film was 'Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat' (1996). Still, both of us have never worked together. Does it mean that we were having a rivalry of sorts and hence would require some kind of patch-up to prove to the world that everything is fine between us?"

He is also happy to declare that Sanjay is the h! ero of the film and he is the villain.

"That's the ! fact. He is not just a hero but also has a heroine (Lara Dutta) opposite him. On the other hand, I have sharks as my leading ladies. I don't mind though. It's still better than having none at all. Remember, in 'Hera Pheri', Suniel Shetty had Tabu while I was without a heroine, " joked Akshay.

Isn't he bothered about the fact that he won't be hogging all the limelight?

"It is not always the matter of footage. It's about how far you can indeed go in the role that you get to play in the film. You can be a villain and still make an impact. I have just followed Tony's vision here. Whatever he asked me to do, I did it. If 'Blue' works (and I am positive it will), all credit goes to Tony. He has done a tremendous job."

Also starring Katrina Kaif and Kylie Minogue, "Blue" is releasing Friday.
